My DIY Halloween Outfit and Make Up

Hey Guys!

As I'm a university student we are expected to dress up for a lot of occasions and one of those occasions does happen to be Halloween. Last year I wasn't really bothered about going out or really celebrating Halloween, but this year I'm trying to make the most of the festive occasion! Halloween is very soon and I got invited to a Halloween birthday themed party: SPOOKFEST! So, I wanted to share with you guys a simple DIY Halloween outfit that you can put together with clothes and accessories from your own wardrobe and also a very simple make up look. I'm no make up artist and pretty terrible with make up so I went for something very easy and simple!

Outfit

Crop Top: Primark
Skirt: BHS
Socks: Primark
Boots: River Island
Choker: Primark
Hoop Earrings: Borrowed

I went as a classic vampire for this Halloween themed birthday party as I didn't have time to go out and buy a costume, also being a student means funds can be quite limited as well so you have to end up working with what you've already got. I could of easily been Veronica from Riverdale as well so these pieces can easily be mixed with other items to appear as another character. All the items I wore were from my wardrobe and I only needed to borrow some silver hoop earrings from my friend and my outfit was complete. If you don't have any of these pieces you can always go to Primark or a thrift shop. There are so many characters and people you can dress up as for Halloween, people at the party were Bananas in Pyjamas, Batman, Ned Flanders, a mermaid, a nurse etc!

Make Up

Primer: Rimmel London Fix & Perfect Pro Multi Action Make Up Primer | 002
Foundation: Bourjois Paris Healthy Mix Fond De Teint Anti-Fatigue Foundation | No. 52 Vanilla
Concealer: Rimmel London Wake Me Up Anti Fatigue Effect + Radiant Glow Concealer | 020 True Ivory
Powder: Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder | 003 Peach Glow
Eyebrow Pencil: Rimmel London Professional Eyebrow Pencil | 002 Hazel
Eye Shadow: SEVENTEEN Easy On The Eye | The Big Smoke

For my eye shadow I wanted to create a very dark bold eye to compliment the bold red lips. I put Warm Ivory all over my eye lids to create a plain base, I then took Slate Grey and placed it around the inner crease of my eye and on 2/3 of my eyelid as a base to put my creme silver eye shadow on the top. I then took Wild Khaki and with a small angled brush I placed it in the outer corner of my eye and swept it inwards towards where I'd placed Slate Grey. Getting a blending brush I then buffed it out as it is quite a dark shade and buffed it towards my brow bone and outwards where I would later apply my eyeliner wing. After buffing it out and both Slate Grey and Wild Khaki were combined I then took Cool Aluminium, a very silver creme eye shadow, and with my middle finger I dabbed it on top of Slate Grey all the way towards the inner crease of my eye, avoiding my outer crease where I had just buffed out Wild Khaki. Getting a small eye shadow brush that comes in the palette I then took some more of Cool Aluminium and  tapped some more around the middle of my eye and the corners. I then placed some of Wild Khaki on my water line, joining it with some Cool Aluminium so it reflected my actual eye lid. Then I applied my eyeliner.

Eyeliner: Natural Collection Eye Liner
Mascara: Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Reloaded | 001 Black
Contour/Bronze: Maybelline New York Contour Palette | 01 Light Medium
Blush: Bourjois Paris Blush | 33 Golden Lilac
Lip Stick: Rimmel London Moisture Renew | 500 Diva Red
Highlighter: Soap & Glory The Perfect Ten Shadow Palette | Gold Coast

I actually used an eye shadow for highlighter as it works better and is really pigmented, great for the cheekbones.

Hair

I decided to leave my hair pretty simple so I just used my Remington Straightener 210 along with some dry hair shampoo in my roots for a little more volume so my hair didn't appear so limp :)

Who are you going as this Halloween? Let me know in the comments below!

See you on Wednesday my lovelies!

Hair Issues and Solutions | Lanzarote 2017

Hey Guys!

While I was on holiday I thought my hair would be fine with just shampoo and the normal hair products I use on a day to day basis but the heat, sun exposure and constant contact with water caused my hair to become very brittle and dry on the ends. My hair in general was not in the best condition, so I thought I'd look for something that would help bring the moisture back to my hair and help protect it from the amount of sun exposure it was dealing with everyday. So, we went and browsed through all the hair products in all the supermarkets, which was quite difficult because it was all in Spanish, therefore I had no idea which product did what! Eventually, we found a hair product that made sense in English/Spanish that we hoped would help return my hair back to its best. So for €4.10 we bought a hair mask that would repair the ends, hydrate and return some of the lost vitamins to my roots  ðŸ’•

It was frustrating having such dry hair and with it looking so lifeless and limp, so finding an easy solution was reassuring! I've never used a hair mask before because I just tend to stick to shampoo, conditioner, heat protect spray and oils so I was pretty excited to try something new! 😊 I always get this thrill when it comes to experimenting with new products! I used the hair mask the following night before going out for evening drinks and it worked a dream! I washed my hair as usual - shampooo etc., then added the hair mask to my hair, from roots to ends and leaving it for 5 minutes while it worked its magic. I dried the ends slightly with my towel and then let it dry naturally instead of applying any heat and making it worse! Obviously I couldn't tell if it had worked straight away but later on both myself and my mum had noticed how my hair was feeling softer and much healthier ❣️

The consistency was very thick and was similar to a jelly based product so I didn't have to use much to coat my hair thankfully! By the tub is quite large and contains 400ml of product, so I have no doubt it will last me a while! After using that several times while on holiday my hair was restored to its former health! If you are struggling with some hair issues while on holiday like I did I highly recommend a hair mask that hydrates and protects from sun exposure! It works wonders and its affordable and easy to find in any supermarket!

What is your favourite brand for hair masks?

See you on Wednesday my lovelies! ❤️

What's In My Shower?

Hey Guys!

Sorry that I didn't upload like usual on Wednesday I've been sick this week so I wasn't able to get out of bed, which is why I'm uploading on both Saturday and Sunday this week! Instead of showing you what I have in my bathroom I thought I would just show my shower as I have a lot of products. So I'll do a separate post about the rest of my bathroom another time :)

These are the products I use every time I go in the shower. I know some people have different shampoo and conditioners they like to switch between, but as a student I can't afford to use three different shampoos so I just stick to the one I trust and the one that is best for my hair type. Therefore, there is not a lot of products to show in my shower other than these five products!

Tresemme Luxurious Moisture Shampoo

I use the Tresemme Luxurious Moisture Shampoo for dry or dull hair because a while back around October and November I was dying my hair so it had really dry ends and needed refreshing therefore, ever since then I've been using it :) Even though I've had all my hair chopped off now I still use it so that I can maintain the moisture in my hair and hopefully prevent it from getting dry and limp like last time! Its quite an expensive shampoo compared to other brands but it was on offer when I purchased it from Boots so I can't complain haha! I know some people have alternate shampoo that they use but because I've only just cut my hair and I'm not dying it anymore I'm just sticking to this shampoo as its working really well.

Tresemme Luxurious Moisture Conditioner

When I got the shampoo on offer in Boots I also got the matching Tresemme Luxurious Moisture Conditioner too as it was cheaper to get both, so I use both of them to maintain the moisture in the ends of my hair. I don't like to use the conditioner all the time because its only really necessary to use once a week with my hair. What I love about both these Tresemme products is how much product you get in the bottle for the price you pay. These are the best shampoo and conditioner I have used in a long time as it also helps reduce the grease when I have day two and day three hair :)

Radox Feel Fabulous with Mango Mayhem Shower Gel

I got given this shower gel in a gift set on my last birthday by one of my friends back home and for ages it just sat in my bathroom not being used because back home I was already going through shower gel I has been gifted from like 2 Christmas' ago haha! So when I moved to uni I thought I would bring the collection along and save some money as I wouldn't need to buy shower gel for ages :) Before using this I was using the Ted Baker Pink Scented Body Wash but that ran out quite quickly so I then moved onto Radox. I love how strong the scent for this shower gel its very fruity! I like using because it lasts for the first few hours after showering and doesn't just disappear when I leave the shower :)

Nivea Daily Essentials Refreshing Facial Wash Gel

I have two different face washes that I use depending on how my skin is feeling or the time of day. So if I'm showering in the morning I'll probably use this gel wash as it isn't as harsh on my skin and considering I've just woken up I won't have any make up on that will need removing, so I only need to refresh my face :) This face wash is really gentle on my skin and hydrates my skin but doesn't add any excess oil. I like using it in the morning as it gives a perfect base for my make up after using moisturiser, serum and primer. They are all a great base for my foundation :)

Garnier Pure Active 3 in 1 Face Wash

If I'm showering at night or my skin looks like it needs a little extra work then I use the 3 in 1 face wash. I prefer to use it at night as I will have taken all my make up off and want to ensure I've cleansed my skin enough that there is nothing left :) Considering this face wash is 3 in 1 and it can either be a wash or scrub its great for the last step of my cleansing routine as its purifies and clears my pores of all the excess oil and impurities I've collected over the day. When I'm in the shower I like using it as a mask, so after I apply it I do other tasks like washing my body or shaving and then after about 5 minutes I will wash the mask off and my skin is so smooth afterwards! It doesn't cause my skin to dry out either!

What are the products that you constantly use in the shower? My favourite is my Mango Mayhem shower gel :)

See you tomorrow lovelies!

January Favourites | 2017

Hey Guys!

For once I'm actually doing my favourites post on time unlike my December favourites haha :p I've been waiting to do this post for ages as I have so many things to share with you guys! I can't believe how quickly this month has gone by, I always find the first month of a new year the strangest as it always goes so fast and then the next couple of months will drag on for ages!

Lets get started!

The Girl Fragrance | Tommy Hilfiger

I got given 'The Girl' by Tommy Hilfiger from my parents for Christmas back in December and loved it! By parents have always been amazing at picking out the best perfumes :) I can give no hints to what perfumes I like and they will always pick the one I was interested in. I was really surprised to receive this at Christmas as we agreed not to give gifts this year due to going on vacation but it was such a lovely surprise. I like to wear perfume every day but with 'The Girl' I only wear it on special occasions, like when I'm going out or celebrating something as I don't want it to go so quickly. I want to preserve it for as long as possible as it is one of the best perfumes I have received other than 'Alien' by Thierry Mugler.

Innisfree Capsule Recipe Pack | Jeju Volcano

My Korean pen-pal always sends me great things that she has found and a while back she sent me three pots each a different face mask from Innisfree and from the collection this one is the best. I find most clay masks are really drying and cause dry skin around my eyebrows and nose, but this brand is amazing! Its more hydrating then drying and it really helps with my impurities a lot. What I've found is that it doesn't take a lot of effort to do this face mask. Most of my face masks take a lot of time to apply and to remove, it takes around 30 minutes of my time at night when I have other things to do like my course readings and seminar preparation and this mask only takes a maximum of 15 minutes, giving me time to do other things on my to-do list. It's really easy to remove with a wet cloth and doesn't make my face red like the other clay masks I use :)

VO5 Heat Protect Spray

I used to be really bad when it came to protecting my hair from heat damage but I've been quite consistent this month especially after having all my hair chopped off. I'm determined not to damage by hair as much as I did last year with dying my hair and everything so this year is the year to look after my hair and keep it in a healthy condition. This heat spray is so good and VO5 is the best brand I've tried so far. I did us VO5 in the past and it was amazing especially when I was straightening my hair then it wasn't in my local drugstore anymore so I had to stop using it and then now it has been re-branded and brought back I'm in love with it again :) It makes my hair smell nicer for longer, even with second day hair and it makes it so shiny and soft! I think the combination of Tresemme shampoo, conditioner and the VO5 heat spray is what is working my hair wonders!

Shape of You | Ed Sheeran

A lot of people love this song and no surprise really its Ed Sheeran :) but its way better than I thought it would be! There was such high expectation for his new album especially after he took a break for a while and I was worried that Divide wouldn't be as good as his other albums but I was so wrong! Its so good :) I like 'Castle On The Hill' but this one is my favourite, its just upbeat and like me its a very cheery song :)

Chase Me | Dream Catcher

Every time I listen to this song it reminds me of the theme tune for an anime or any drama because of how upbeat and eccentric it is. Its very fast flowing and the choreograph is brilliant, a dance I could never do haha :p Like you guys know I'm really into upbeat and jumpy songs as it gives me motivation to be productive and this song got me through writing two important essays and kept me sane haha! So you could say its my favourite :)

I Don't Wanna Live Forever | Zayn Malik & Taylor Swift

I can't wait for the movie to come out in around a week or so, the trailer looks so good! I watched the first one and it was okay but the story line was a bit lacking where as this one seems to have much more going on and a dramatic story line :) Obviously I've only seen the trailer so far but I'm all for the drama shown haha! The song though by Zayn Malik and Taylor Swift is so good :) For the past couple of weeks its all I've been listening to when I'm doing work and with friends so it is definitely getting me excited for the film. I'm not really keen on Taylor Swift but the song is still just as good!

Oh Na Na | K.A.R.D

This song! I can't get over how much I love this song haha :) it is one of those songs that always gets you up dancing and singing along to! Recently I've had no reason to need uplifting and cheering up because I've been in such a good mood but I can imagine if I was feeling down it would make me feel better :) Music affects my mood the most so if your like me and need cheering up or just a good upbeat tune give this a listen!

The Man In The High Castle | Amazon Prime

I saw this advertised on telly for so long and it always caught my eye and appealed but seeing as I didn't have Amazon Prime I gave up and accepted that I couldn't watch it. But after I accidentally signed up for their free trial one day while I was buying Christmas presents I went to cancel it I realised that even when I cancelled the payment I still got the trail for 30 days, so I took the opportunity and started to watch season one, I then got an extension because Amazon messed up one of my orders so they gave me an extra 30 days. I finished season one quite quickly and loved it :) Its very different to the other dramas I've seen and without giving away any spoilers you don't expect the ending to be so bizarre. If your into history or dramas based on the Second World War then I'm sure you will enjoy The Man In The High Castle! Its more dramatic and action packed than I thought, there is so much going on in each episode that I could only ever watch two episodes a time other wise my brain would melt haha!

What is your favourite TV show at the moment? Let me know in the comments below :)

See you soon lovelies!

Tips to Having Healthier Hair | My New Hair

Hey Guys!

So back in December I made the decision to cut off my long hair and have it shorter. Even though I love having long hair my main reason was because I wanted something different, I'd seen multiple people on Instagram with long bobs and it looked like something I should try. I've had really short hair before when I was younger and I hated it because I could never grow it long but now that I've had it long and shoulder length I wanted a change and to bring my hair back to its previous healthy state. When I had my long hair because I only had trims every now and then and as I styling and dying the ends regularly the ends started to get brittle and dry so it really wasn't healthy and didn't look great either. So, before going on holiday I made the decision to have it all chopped off, my hair could start again and I could experiment with a new length.

Since having my hair cut obviously some times I've hated it and sometimes I love it but its like that all the time with your hair, one day its working with you and the next it doesn't want to cooperate haha :P

When I was having my hair cut I was talking to my hair dresser about having healthier hair and after giving me some tips I thought I would share them with you guys, so like me you can begin to take steps to look after your hair more effectively :)

Tips To Having Healthier Hair

I've constructed a list of tips for having and maintaining healthier hair and I'll try keeping my hair in a healthier condition too :)

#1 Have your hair trimmed or cut every 6 -8 weeks to get rid of the brittle and dry ends | Even if I don't go to the hair dressers I sometimes just wet my hair and with a little pair of scissors give my hair a little trim. But I don't cut enough off for it to make a big difference as I'm not a hair dresser haha!

#2 Use heat protection when using your hair dryer or other styling tools such as curlers and straighteners | I use the VO5 Heat Protect Spray every time I blow dry my hair and even though you don't need to use that much I do put quite a lot on and let let it sit for 5 minutes so that it soaks in before having any heat on my hair.

#3 Have the heat applicant on a low temperature, so whether its your your hair dryer, straighteners, curlers or any other tool there will always be a lower heat setting. Make sure to use it according to how thick your hair is, don't use excessive heat if you have thin hair as it will increase the damage | On my curlers because I have relatively thin hair I keep it on a medium heat and use the lower setting on my hair dryer. It make take longer to dry my hair but I'd rather it take longer than cause my hair to go excessively dry.

#4 Don't wash your hair everyday as it will strip the oils from your hair and cause it to become extremely dry. Your hair will become brittle and cause dry ends quicker making it harder to keep your hair in a healthy state for longer | I try to wash my hair once every couple of days so that I don't dry out the ends. I used to wash my hair everyday back in secondary school and even though I used conditioner every time it got dry and knotted very quickly. Which is why I had to keep getting more hair cuts when I shouldn't have needed them if I just looked after my hair better!

#5 To refresh your hair use dry shampoo instead of washing your hair everyday | My favourite brand to use it Batiste as it has always worked to make my hair look fresh and clean and makes it smell like cherries haha! By using dry shampoo you can make your hair appear cleaner if it is appearing greasy or dirty and you aren't stripping the oils from your roots, maintaining healthier hair :)

#6 Use conditioner once a week and not every time you wash your hair. If you are washing your hair every couple of days you don't need to use conditioner every time so having a day where you use it like a Sunday will be good for you hair and by keeping it on for around 5 minutes it will provide enough moisture | I used to use conditioner every time I washed my hair but found that it was getting greasier easier so by using it once a week my hair didn't get as greasy or dirty as quickly.

#7 Use serums and hair masks to lock in the moisture in the ends of your hair and encourage shine and softness. By deep moisturising your hair and locking in the nutrients and oils your hair won't go as dry so quickly and split ends won't develop so soon. One factor that can effect your hair's conditions is the climate as well so by using a hair mask when the air is more drying will ensure your hair stays moisturised and won't go statistic and frizzy | I'm really bad at using hair masks and serums as I always forget so I need to get more consistent at setting some time out of my day to apply a hair mask or put a serum on after blow drying my hair.

#8 Don't towel dry your hair as it will cause damage and breakage which leads to dryer and brittle hair. The rubbing motion when towel drying your hair strips the outer layer and makes it thinner and so your hair can't be protected as easily. Therefore, maintaining your hairs health will become harder | I sometimes do forget to not rub my hair dry and dab instead especially when I'm in a rush so this is something I need to consider and follow through with more often :)

After getting used to my new hair I really like it and might keep it at this length until I want a change again. Comment below if you have anymore recommendations on hair products I could use :)

See you soon lovelies!

Date Night Outfits | Fall 2016

Hey Guys!

Two weeks ago my boyfriend came up to Newcastle to visit me and we went out to Prezzo for a date night so for a change I dressed up for the occasion. After going on our date I thought I would share some date night outfits with you guys so you can get some inspiration and ideas on what to wear for your date nights!

Whenever its date night with your man you always think to yourself 'what the hell am I gonna wear?' whether you have been together for three years or only a couple of months you still wanna make effort and look good for him. So here for 4 date night outfit ideas for you guys!

Outfit 1 | Casual Date at the Cinema

Strapless Bralette: New Look
Top: Topshop | Crop
Jeans: New Look | Skinny
Shoes: Primark
Watch: Bering
Bracelet: Pandora

I love this outfit because its casual and comfy which is perfect for the cinema. When your at the cinema on a date you don't want to dress too fancy and look over dressed. You want to be comfortable being sat down for a couple of hours so this outfit is the best for a date where you need to look cute but need to also be dressed appropriately :)

Outfit 2 | Dinner Out at a Restaurant

Skirt: BHS
Top: Sammydress | Off The Shoulder
Shoes: New Look
Watch: Bering
Bracelet: Pandora
Earrings: eBay Seller
Rings: Pandora

This is one of my favourite outfits when going out for dinner with Dennis, normally I usually wear a lilac bow top that I've had for a while but recently I received this off the shoulder embroidered top from Sammydress and I've loved wearing it with my pencil black skirt and boot heels for meals out and special occasions. I love the black and white look, its classic and sleek so when going out for dinner I love this outfit! :)

Outfit 3 | Walk Around the City / Quayside

Jeans: New Look | Skinny
Jumper: Dorothy Perkins
Watch: Bering
Shoes: Primark

Up here in Newcastle its getting very cold and winter is definitely coming so when me and Dennis were going for a walk around the city we had to dress up warm and get the jumpers out the wardrobe! With this outfit your warm and with this turtle neck jumper your neck is covered too so your getting extra coverage against the cold. Jumpers are an essential in fall and this one is my favourite for dates! The duck egg colour is my favourite :) If I could wear this in summer I would haha!

Outfit 4 | Mini Golf Date

Jeans: New Look | Ripped Super Skinny
Top: New Look
Sneakers: Nike Roshe
Watch: Bering
Rings: Pandora

When you go to play mini golf, go bowling or laser tag on a date you want to look good but don't want to be too dressed up and you need to be wearing the correct shoes and not in heels or a dress you would go out for a meal in. I always choose this type of outfit for these types of dates because its casual and cute and also the right type of outfit for an active date :)

Of course the outfit it important but what you wear underneath is just as important. What you wear underneath can add to the outfit you have chosen to wear. For example if your going to wear a see through crop top like my blue Topshop crop in outfit 1 then a cute lacy detailed bralette would look great underneath or if you were wearing a backless dress and wanted to add some detail or your not comfortable going bra less then a bralette is perfect!

Well Adore Me are there for you when it comes to buying intimates like bras, lingerie and pantie sets.

I prefer to wear bralettes more than anything because they are just so comfy and I love how cute they look! With all of these outfits I will most likely wear a bralette so that I'll be comfortable throughout the date and it will add something to my outfit choices - layering is always a good shout :) Here are a couple of my favourites from Adore Me, go check them out:

https://www.adoreme.com/zariah-bra
https://www.adoreme.com/alessandra-bra
https://www.adoreme.com/rainey-bra
https://www.adoreme.com/camylla-bra

If your anything like me and being comfortable is your main priority then try bralettes! They are the best things and aren't as expensive as ordinary bras!
I hope these outfits gave you some inspiration and ideas of what to wear when your on a date! Which one was your favourite?
Let me know what you think in the comments below!

See you soon lovelies!

I Dip-Dyed My Hair Blonde

Hey Guys!

As you know last year I dyed the ends of my hair blue and then I let it naturally grow out and now I've gone for another colour to brighten up my hair and be a little more adventurous. I wasn't sure if blonde would suit the ends of my hair because of how dark my natural hair is but after testing it prior we made the decision to give it a try. So on Monday I went to my best friend's mum Mel, as she is a hair dresser and had my hair dyed. She braided my hair to the point where I wanted the blonde to begin so that it was all secure and even and then began. By braiding my hair it helped when Mel used the tinting brush to apply the dye as it aided how fair up the dye should go.

Due to testing the blonde dye on my hair previously we knew what colour my hair would turn out like and whether it was a subtle blonde or brighter. Mel put the dye on my hair evenly and used 12% so that it would strip my natural colour enough to make it lighter. So that I didn't damage my hair we didn't bleach my hair before applying the blonde dye because I didn't want to spend so much time treating bleached hair and looking after it more than I usually would, so instead we just used a higher strength and it naturally stripped the brown and turned it into blonde without any extra damage. At first I wasn't sure if the blonde would suit me because of having brown hair for so long but after adjusting to my new colour I really like it! I'm really impressed with the results and my hair looks healthier as the dye gave it more of a finished shine. Luckily because its permanent I won't have to keep having it re-done like I did with my blue hair. This time it can naturally grow out, or I could get it dyed higher up, so its closer to the top of my neck or I could go all blonde. There are so many possibilities what I could do with my hair next but for now I'm really happy with the blonde, especially for these summer months. Unlike my blue hair dye this doesn't wash out after 10 washes and the colour doesn't come out when I wash my hair with shampoo because its not semi-permanent. So luckily this time it doesn't look like I've murdered a blue smurf haha :P

Mel buys her hair dye from a wholesalers so I wouldn't know what brand the hair dye is or how much you can purchase it for. But if your looking to do the same as me or dip dye your hair another colour there are plenty of DIY dip dye products in Boots and Superdrug or you can just go to the hairdressers. Boots sell their dip-dye kits for around £7 so its affordable and easy. However, if you don't know what your doing I would recommend you go to a professional so you don't make any mistakes you might regret.

If some of you are wanting to be adventurous and want to do something different with your hair whether to have a change or do something new then just do it! I was really hesitant and worried that blonde wouldn't suit me but I love my new hair, its different, its brighter and it gives you a different look to work with :) I wish I'd dyed my hair blonde sooner after seeing how much it suits me :)

If you have any questions regarding dip-dying your hair then don't hesitate to comment below or email me :)
