1. What important tips would you give to beginner bloggers?
I think one of the best things you can do as a newer blogger is to read lots of other blogs. While you should never copy others, reading other people's posts will more than likely help to inspire you to come up with your own topics. It will give you an idea about what people like to read, and the style that blogs tend to be written in. My early posts were very long with no pictures and written in the same formal style I used to use in my university essays; while you can write your posts however you want, to be honest a more casual tone with large clear pictures is going to appeal to a lot more people. You can find the most recent popular posts in the blogging community by going to Bloglovin.com, and clicking 'popular posts' along the top of the page.
2. What is the best thing about blogging?
The best thing about blogging is that you have your own little space to be as creative as you like. You can write about whatever topic interests you most and share your content with likeminded people. It's completely free and is such a productive hobby to have, when you're bored rather than just killing time sat online doing nothing you can write up a blog post and have something worthwhile to show at the end of it. It also looks great on your CV when applying for jobs, as it shows motivation, dedication and creativity.
3. What inspired you to start a blog?
In my last year of university I started freelance writing to earn a bit of extra money. I've always loved writing and as much as I enjoyed it I didn't like always having to write in such a restrictive way, and wanted to branch out into writing topics I'd chosen myself. I've always been into makeup and beauty and found this is what I loved writing about the most, so I started looking for a place to publish my writing online.
4. How often do you blog?
It completely depends, I have stages where I blog every day and others where I blog once or twice a week. At the moment I probably post about five times a week.
5. How long have you been blogging?
I started by blog in either May or June 2012, so coming up to eighteen months now.
6. What is your favourite make up brand?
Such a stereotypical blogger answer but it has to be Mac. There are so many products, finishes and colours I could quite easily only use Mac products (if they weren't so expensive that is- ha!)
7. What is your favourite hair product brand?
I use so many different haircare brands I really couldn't choose. Although I'm quite partial to Dove products from the highstreet and Macadamia for higher end haircare.
8. What is your favourite shop?
I buy online a lot, and so I'm not sure that places like Very, Asos and eBay count as actual 'shops.' The city where I live has a huge Primark and so do like having a look in there whenever I'm in town. I love Debenhams for the high end makeup counters!
9. What is your favourite accessory to add to an outfit?
Definitely scarves at this time of year! I'm also a big fan of statement jewellery and usually wear either a long necklace, a load of stacked bracelets or a big ring pretty much every day.
10. What is your favourite make up product?
At the moment it has to be my Mac palette, I bought a 15 pan eyeshadow palette a few weeks ago and so far I have six eyeshadows in it. I'm planning on filling it by early next year, but as Mac has so many amazing shades it's difficult to know which ones to go for!
