February Favourites

Hey Guys!

Sorry I've been gone for so long, I have been very busy with school work and my job but I'm back now with lots of interesting and fun content to share with you :) I haven't done a favourites post in a while so I thought I'd show you what I've been loving this month! Let me know what you think :)

Beauty Products

VO5 Smoothing Creme 100 ML

I've used many VO5 products in the past and even though this one isn't my favourite its still good enough for my hair. I used to use a particular VO5 heat protection spray that I would apply to my hair before blow drying and straightening my hair and it was the best but I can't seem to find the exact one anymore. I've found similar products but they don't seem to work well and make it greasy and makes my hair quite limp. So instead of looking for the spray I decided to try something different and give the creme a try. Its not the best and doesn't work as well as the spray did but it still does the job and doesn't leave my hair greasy or lifeless so I guess its the next best thing :P

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm | Original

I started using this after a friend recommended it and brought it me after I complained about having dry lips and omg its amazing! It was a bit strange when I first tried it as its cocoa butter and I'm not a big fan of the smell and it had a very weird taste but after using it for a while I got used to it. I've used tons of lip balms like Nivea, Vaseline and Kleenex but this is by far the best one! Since using it I haven't had an dry lips and especially with it being quite cold here in England. I've never used such a product that works so fast. If your like me and suffer from dry and chapped lips especially in cold weather than I highly recommend the buy, you can find it at Boots for around £1.99 and I promise you won't be disappointed, its an essential item in my make up routine!

Maybelline New York Master Sculpt Contouring Palette | 01 Light/Medium

I used to contour with Boujour Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder but after using it for a while I thought it was about time I tried something else, and I'm so glad I made the change to Maybelline New York because their contouring palette works much better. Don't get me wrong Boujour's bronzing powder was good but it didn't seem to match my skin tone enough and didn't show up as distinctive as this bronzer does. I've only been using it for a few weeks now but I've noticed a big difference in my contour and highlighting so I think I'll stick to this contour palette as it works much better with my foundation and highlights my face much better than other products have :) If you don't have distinctive and obvious cheek bones like me and therefore contouring is essential I recommend this palette as the bronzer works perfectly and the angled brush that comes with it works wonders :)

Thierry Mugler | Alien

I got Alien back in December for a Christmas present from my parents while we were in Lanzarote and I've been wanting it for ages so major browner points to my parents. In fact my dad brought it while we were on holiday and sneakily went out to the perfume shops in Pueto Del Carmen two days before Christmas Day and he thought I wouldn't notice haha :p Ever since Christmas day I've been loving it and as you can tell I've already finished the bottle which means time to purchase another ;)

Rimmel London 60 Seconds Super Shine | 320 Rapid Ruby

I've got a large collections of red nail varnishes already but this the first I've found to last the longest and appear like a gel varnish. I got given a bunch of nail vanishes for Christmas and originally I had a brighter shade of red that was very vivid and bright and seeing as it didn't suit me I swapped it with my friend and she gave me this one instead :) I prefer this colour much more than the brighter red as this suits me much more. Some reds really don't suit my skin tone and it stands out way too much but this shade Rapid Ruby is perfect. Surprisingly it goes with everything and doesn't make some outfits look out of place. So if your looking for a similar nail colour and you like a shade of red that isn't so vivid than I recommend Rimmel London Rapid Ruby!

Burt's Bees Lip Gloss | 269 Starry Night

I got given this at the Clothes Show Live back in December in the goodie bags that they give to premium ticket holders. At the moment I haven't been wearing much lip-gloss or lipstick as my lips have been really dry so I've mainly been using lip balm and petroleum jelly. But when I was getting ready for an 18th birthday party I thought I might give it a go and see if it suited me, because usually dark colours don't suit me and instead I have to stick to nude colours or very pale pinks and reds. But after trying it on it actually really suited my skin tone and didn't look to dark so now after finding a lip-gloss in a dark shade that suits me I've be consistently wearing it out. If your like me and dark lip shades don't suit you I highly recommend the Burt's Bees Starry Night lip-gloss you will be shocked by the results :)

TV

High Society | Korean Drama

I haven't been watching many Korean dramas lately but while I had some free time I started watching High Society featuring Park Hyung-Sik, Lee Sang-Woo and Sung Joon. Unlike other dramas I didn't hear a lot about High Society and not many people recommended watching it and some hadn't even heard of it so I wasn't expecting much when I started the series, but to my surprise its actually a pretty good drama. Its not so dramatic that its over kill and its not always just focusing on Jang Yoon-Ha, instead it focuses on all the characters and each of the problems they face. I wish they could have included more on Ji-Yi's parents and her background but other than that the drama is very good and I recommend the watch. Its only a 16 episode drama so it doesn't drag on like others.

Luther | BBC

So many people have raved about Luther for such a long time and I was never really bothered and didn't understand what the big deal was but now that I've finished Season 1 I understand why so many people were talking about it. Its one of the best detective/murder drama series I've watched other than Midsummer Murders and Sherlock. Idris Elba is amazing! He makes Luther his own and I couldn't imagine another actor playing the role and if there was it wouldn't be the same. I've only watched season one and so far I'm impressed, time for season 2 :P

The Walking Dead | AMC

Recently my best friend and I started watching The Walking Dead after getting it on box set and we now have an addiction to the series. We watched the first season in a week after watching multiple episodes a night and now we have just finished season two. Its a TV show that has always been popular and people have always raved about but we never really latched on until buying it on box set and actually seeing what everyone was talking about. At the moment we are waiting for season three so we can continue to watch it :) I've never watched a TV show like it, the first season wasn't as graphic but very thrilling and after watching the second season it got more and more exciting, always leaving cliffhangers and heart stopping moments. If you haven't seen The Walking Dead yet I highly recommend you start to watch it, but I do warn you its very graphic and gruesome at times :P

Music

Lukas Graham | 7 Years

This song has been in the charts for quite a while now and its only now that I've got into it, I'm a bit behind on the recent charts haha :P Its my top favourite at the moment and is so catchy! After listening to this song I looked more into Lukas Graham's music and found some other good songs. He is a very talented
artist and I hope he goes a long way!

Q&A | S.Coups, Woozi, Vernon and Ailee

Seventeen are another boy group I discovered recently on YouTube and while scrolling through their MV's I discovered this track and seeing as I already know a few of Ailee's songs I thought I might like it. To my surprise I didn't like it at first, however after listening to it a few more times it started to grow on me. Its a very upbeat song and they chose the right Seventeen members to be included in the song! It has a mix of rap and vocals which makes it very upbeat and the MV is a very fun filled and young video. If your a fan of Got7, EXO, BTS and High4 than I bet you will love these guys ;)
Uncover | Zara Larsson

This song is nearly 3 years old and I only discovered it around a week ago, and already I love it! Zara Larsson came on the scene recently with I Will Never Forget You and Lush Life but I didn't realise she had been producing music for so long. I found all her other songs from her album by going through her YouTube and seeing all her other tracks and collaborations. In my opinion I like Lush Life and I Will Never Forget You but I think her other tracks Rooftop, Carry You Home and Uncover deserve some recognition. If you have heard Zara's songs in the charts I suggest you go check out her YouTube too! :)

Pillow Talk | Zayn Malik

When I first heard Zayn's new single I wasn't sure that I liked it and didn't really understand why everyone was fussing over his new debut, but after listening to it a few more times I now love this song! Its very different to how I imagined his new music would be and the MV is a very different style but I think it suits his image. Its definitely a song worthy of being in the charts!

Rough | Gfriend

I've always liked Gfriend's songs but this one has to be my favourite! Me Gustas Tu and Glass Bead were very upbeat and bubbly songs and had a fast and jolly MV to match the song, which coincides with the girls personalities as they are very bright and upbeat people with a lot of positivity. However, unlike their other tracks Rough has quite a sad tone but is still upbeat and happy. The MV has a mix of dance and acting like in their other MVs but what makes this song different is that it has a much sadder melody and is based in December/Winter where its a sad and cold time, where as their other MVs were based in summer times where good times occur :) These girls have such a good melody!

Books
Call The Midwife | Jennifer Worth

I've been reading this book what seems like forever but finally I am getting to the end! I started watching the Call the Midwife series when it first came onto BBC One a few years ago and for a gift my mum brought me the entire book series so that I  could enjoy reading Jennifer Worth's recollections . When I started the book I had the initial impression that it would just contain all the mother's stories from the BBC Drama but instead it recollected about other stories, ones that were a little more graphic and too detailed for an 8pm TV programme, but so far I've found no fault and I recommend it to those who have watched the Call the Midwife series and to those who haven't yet.  Jennifer's recollections and stories are amazing :)

Others
Maxtek Selfie Stick

I got my selfie stick for Christmas as a gift while I was away in Lanzarote and have been using it for a while but this month it has really come in handy. This month was my cousin's 1st Birthday Party and seeing as I have a large family my selfie stick helped us out a lot. Seeing as it was a big family event and lots of photos were being taken it helped to include everyone in a group shot :P I always said I was never going to have or use a selfie stick but now I see why so many people use them ;)

Sleeping Socks | Gift from Korea

Around January I received a parcel from my pen-pal living in Korea which included lots of thoughtful gifts and one of those gifts was a cute pair of sleeping socks. I'm not sure where she brought them from and which brand they are but they are the comfiest socks I've ever worn. The design of the socks are very different to others I have and that is what makes them my favourite. They are so soft and don't go all bobbly like usual sleeping socks, I hope to get some more soon when I receive another parcel :) If you know the shop/brand where these socks are from let me know.

See you soon lovelies!
